It is written in The Book On How To Keep Health For The Elderly by Song dynasty physician Chen Zhi that the regular consumption of Fructus Lycii “brightens the eyes, brings a youthful complexion, calms the spirit, and helps in longevity”.  Fructus Lycii has been used by generations of Chinese Medicine physicians for blurry vision and night blindness caused by liver-blood and kidney-yin deficiencies.

The anthocyanin and anthocyanidin found in blueberries help relieve eye fatigue, improve vision at night, and eliminate free radicals to reduce protein oxidation in the lens. Lutein can filter blue light which can be damaging to the eyes, hence protecting the retina from oxidative stress to prevent macular degeneration and the formation of cataracts.
